Girls and their bows.......
Kids... Why on earth do they even open their mouths? Sisters- I do believe are the worst about it... Not that I'm an expert on this matter, but I have already raised a set of boys. The boys were cake... Now I've got my girls... They are the mold that grows on the cake.
This morning's hijinx was over college bows and lack of a college shirt... I'm sure somewhere in the world... Hell! Maybe the universe? I don't know, but someone must think these things are funny.
Back to my point... About a week ago at Walmart, we found some OSU bows on sale for a dollar. Good deal! They sale for $2.50 normally, I try to save if I can... Well, that came back to bite me in the ass.
My oldest daughter is an OU fan. (I know fantastic, right?) Guess what? Our great Walmart didn't have any OU bows. Just my luck! I tell her I will check some of the other Walmarts around.
Then school sends home a lovely letter about Red Ribbon Week! Starting with... College day Monday! I was thinking, Hey, no big deal! Little sis has bows she can wear with her hoodie and big sis has a t-shirt she can wear... Once again the joke is on me with these two goobers.
Big sis.... "Momma, I need a bow."
Me: "No, you don't."
Big Sis: "Yes i do! Little sis has 3!"
Me: "We already talked about it. I will find you one soon."
Big Sis: "When I was at Dollar General with Jane, I seen two?..."
Me: ....
Big Sis: .... (pleading puppy dog face)
Me: "Fine, I will grab you a couple."
So, I ran and picked up two. Holy Moly... $10.95! For just two small bows! It's just ribbon and a clip held together with hot glue! (I have to tap the tips of my fingers against my forehead, to subdue the headache starting to build)
No big deal... She was having a conniption and I didn't want to listen to it today. Thinking a crisis has been averted, we move on from college day. Until... Bam! Big sis dumps us in the middle of another one.
I know what you're thinking... What could that sweet little thing have done?... Well, let me tell you. They are both content and ready for tomorrow, little sis even laid out her clothes for school in the morning. I have already run to the store and grabbed the (over-priced) bows for big sis. Everything is fine and all is rested.
Until the next morning... When in runs little sis, wanting to know where her shirt is? I was confused to say the least... I tell her, it's with her stuff she laid out last night. All of a sudden, little sis squeals in a very high pitched voice...
"My OSU shirt, big sis said you bought me."
I did not buy her a shirt, she had a hoodie with bows. Big sis only had a shirt and now has bows. I just want you to know... You can not rationalize with an 8-year-old at 6:30 in the morning...
So, in order to maintain peace in my home, we ran to Walmart and grabbed the last 10/12 OSU little girls shirt they had. With all the mess of crying and not being happy. We somehow made it to school on time! Only to realize little sis forgot her glasses...
So... There you have it, my Red Ribbon Week Hijinks... Hope someone else out there had as much fun as me.
