This Time of Year

We all start to get so busy.

After Halloween, we seem to be in warp-speed all the way up to New Years. Thanksgiving isn't my favorite holiday... Turkey is gross. I don't care who has prepared it or where it has come from. Turkey is ALWAYS dry after the first cut.

You can never put enough gravy on that sucker to choke it down. We try to skip that holiday around my house or we get ham from the Honey Bake store... Then we sit around, miserable from overeating, swearing to never do it again. (which is funny because my family over-eats every meal)

What can I say I'm one hell of a cook wink.

Christmas...

Between the school and company parties, they keep us looking forward to something going on. I always throw a  huge Christmas party for friend's and family that mean the most to me. It's my way of telling and showing them how much I care about each one of them.

As sweet as that is, I still have monsters who want to put up our tree... Our tree is so sad. Do you remember Charlie Brown's tree? Well, that's what mine looks like as well... It's so ugly with big gaps in the branches. I should throw it away and get a new one, but I won't. Those things are so darn expensive! And I'm too darn cheap... So we will pull out Old Ugly and dress her up one more time.

Dear heavens, let not forget about all the shopping we have to do! I will tell you a secret... If it's not in a box, perfectly square, I can't wrap the darn thing. To be honest, I could skip this holiday as well... I hate stressing over the perfect gifts for everyone.

I know that I get 10 more gray hairs every Christmas. (giggles) One of these days I may just take a cruise and skip the holidays, but not like the Kranks... When we actually reach the day, it's over in like five minutes! Then I clean my house up and put everything away until the next year.

I love a clean house. Nothing makes me happier than a clean house and no more clutter.

New Years....

I do nothing... I normally sleep thank goodness. I don't drink, so I never see any point in staying up or going out. Who knows? This year, I may wake up and go to the bathroom just as the ball drops. I truly make myself laugh... Too bad yall can't hear the things I think in my head.

So, as your out shopping this holiday season, pushing over old ladies, to buy that one China-made toy your kid has to have... Please, try to remember. Be kind to others. If you're having a bad day, maybe they are too.

This time of year also brings forth depression in people and for so many different reasons. One of the most common being the loss of family members. It doesn't matter when they passed, we just miss them so much more at this time of year.

Unfortunately, too many of us don't stop to think about others because we can't see past the end of our own nose.

You never know whose life you may change with a smile and a hello. Hold a door for a lady. Guys carry some elderly person groceries. It's the small things that can change someone's day or life.

Remember, our children learn how to treat folks by watching how we treat them.
