No big deal right? Wrong.....
Our morning started off like any other. Up and at it, bright and early.
Normally, I have to pass by the girls' room a second time and tell them to get up. Well, today when I proceeded ladybug... Wants to wear something that has never been worn. The only problem being, it's one of big sisters outfits and it's hanging in her closet..
We start with just asking big sis. That has no effect... So then, there is some crying and fighting followed by the familiar, MOM!!!
After which, I walk in and tell my eldest daughter to let her sister wear it. Well as you can only imagine the crying started up again... Only this time it was coming from my lovely, beautiful pain in the tookus older daughter.
This child has some odd, need I say weird, desire to keep all her stuff. Even, if she will never wear it or it doesn't fit. My child will make some therapist very rich some day with this little problem. Lets just say, during school her stuff comes up missing a lot (it's the only way I can get rid of clothes that are worn out or just too small for her).
After a few minutes, ladybug comes out wearing big sisters clothes and they fit perfectly. Big sister thought so too because she even helped her find a necklace to wear with it. These girls are both so sweet... When they want to be.
After pulling up ladybugs hair and adding ribbons to match her outfit she was ready to go. On the way out the door, big sis told her not to mess up her clothes, which made ladybug and little uneasy.
She didn't say a word all the way over to her aunt's house. I asked her to go in and grab the boys so I could drop them all off at school. At the school, she kissed me goodbye. Then she went off and joined the pack of kids heading inside.
Awhile later, talking to her aunt, she told me ladybug had said she was wearing her sister's clothes. Her aunt thought she seemed shy or unsure about it. Being the amazing aunt that she is... She immediately jumped in and encouraged her by saying how nice she looked. Ladybug smiled.
That one small act of kindness changed the course of her whole day. When I picked her up she briefed me on all the compliments she had received from her friend's. She had a wonderful day because of her new outfit.
All because someone, other than mom, gave her the confidence to believe she was pretty.
So thank you, to her aunt for always being there with something kind to say and boosting the girls' confidence when it's needed. Your the best, and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. We all love you to pieces!
