Wet Hair

Momma you know I can't take a shower?

While washing dishes I hollered for ladybug to go grab her shower. That's when she pops her cute face around the corner. Telling me she can't do that because she hates getting her pillow wet...
I lift my eyebrow at her and she begins telling me all the reasons why she can't shower tonight. "Momma, you don't understand my pillow and shirt will become wet. Before you know it, everything else will be wet too... You know, like my sheets and then my mattress. That you spent too much money on because you love me..."

And as I watch my little ladybug come up with her reasons not to bathe. I dry my hands. She must have realized that I have not bought into any of these excuses because she turns and walks out of the kitchen. I go back to cleaning. Thinking I had won. Silly, Mom! You know kids always win...

After cleaning up the kitchen and turning out the light, I walk out into the living room to find ladybug sitting there, still dry and in school clothes. Not what I thought I would find. So I ask, "Why are you still in here and not in the shower?"

Well, she starts telling me all about her hair being wet again... I just want to give up on this, but my genius bulb goes off. I love it when this happens and mom comes back for the win! (haha) "Ladybug, don't worry about your hair I will blow dry it for you. So, your pillow and shirt are safe from the wet hair you've been so worried about."

This was not a happy little ladybug because she had no comeback for this... I WON!!!! (love it) About 5 minutes later I see her enter the bathroom with her nightgown. Then I hear the water come on.

Sitting down, I pick up my book and read two lines before I hear "Momma!" It's her from the bathroom... That child has some kind of radar on me. Mom sat down... Yell... Now she will come running! I walked to the door and asked what she needed. "My hair is wet now." Laughing, I tell her to get dressed and I will dry her hair.

Ladybug's hair takes 20 minutes to dry! Goodness... But, we get it done and braided up. She turns to me and tells me, "Thank you, I love you, Momma" and I just smile... She melted my heart when she was born and still does... Even if she drives me crazy first.

I love my girls. They are both so very different yet at the same time, they are the same. I will miss these days once they are all grown up... Though, there's no rush on that.
