We are somewhat intelligent humans most of the time. So, why do we hold the refrigerator door open waiting for an answer as to what's for dinner tonight? Nobody has ever popped out and handed me a recipe card with the ingredients.
This evening, however, I found myself doing that very thing. Must have checked my brain at the door. How many times do I tell the girls, don't just stand there, know what you want, so you can get in and get out, which is almost the same advice I heard in high school.
Hope I'm not the only person that does this, but you make a big dinner and pack away the leftovers. Knowing its going to be yummy the next day, only you never get to them. Before you know it five days worth of covered dishes in your refrigerator.
Well, tonight is the night I saved a leftover from the trash! As I suspected, the chili was wonderful with some shredded cheese and oyster crackers.
Back to the question at hand... What is it about holding that door open? Is it the little light that only comes on for you when opened up. Maybe it's the cold flowing over your sock covered feet, that inspires you to create amazing things or simply reheat some delicious morsel your brilliant mind has already created that week.
I may never know this answer, but tonight I was thrilled to see leftovers in my refrigerator.
